CNY in Taipei

Happy Chinese 牛 Year! Spent my CNY hols this year in freezing cold Taipei. This was my second time in Taipei. The first night i arrived in the city, the temperature was just nice, and a light sweater sufficed. The second day we travelled to Hualian and it was actually quite warm. On the third day, after raining for the whole day, the temperature started to drop and i had to buy a thicker jumper as nothing i brought was enough to keep me warm. It was a good excuse to shop. Ha ha!

It had been a good break for me. I joined big k, S and family a few days late due to a meeting i had to attend. After a four plus hour flight alone on a budget airline AND a long drive into the city during the peak hour, i was famished and thirsty. Poor S and family had to wait for me for a late dinner. We went to a restaurant serving Taiwanese food and had my fill of Taiwanese delights!

One of the main highlights was a visit to the beach in Hualian. Instead of the usual sandy beach, this beach was covered with beautiful pebbles. One could hear and literally feel the waves.

One other highlight for me was dessert! Dessert stalls can be found everywhere, selling largely similar varieties like silky bean curd, green and red bean, and not forgetting my favourite taro! We had dessert like almost every day. The portions were huge, so most of the time, we shared.

Last but not least, the hottest topic when we were there!
